Jeffrey D. Katz believes that inside every good estate attorney lies a great estate attorney.
Jeffrey is the founder and managing partner of JDKatz, P.C. He received his undergraduate degree from The American University (Washington, DC), Law degree from the Chicago-Kent College of Law, and Masters of Taxation (LLM) from the University of Miami.
Prior to opening his own practice, Jeffrey began his career with the accounting firm KPMG/Peat Marwick, LLP providing Corporate, M&A, and Asset Protection advice to star-studded Fortune 500 clientele, inclusive of MCI/Worldcom, Sodexho/Marriott, and Hechinger Co.
Jeffrey entered his own legal practice in 2000, and has provided high-value representation in to corporate and individual clients alike, whether based nearby or from all corners of the globe.
Jeffrey also represents “C” level executives, and their families in their personal and estate planning matters.
Jeffrey’s estate planning practice focuses on comprehensive planning which is both cost effective and impactful. He takes a special interest in charitable planning, and plans which allow grantors to impart their values to their beneficiaries. Jeffrey frequently serves as a Trustee, and has administered over $100 million in estates and trust assets.
Jeffrey is a frequent contributor to publications and periodicals, with recent articles having appeared in Bloomberg/BNA, Inc., The Washington Business Journal, and is a frequent speaker for NBI and myLawCLE.
Kim Mayberry believes that great processes drive great practices.
Kim received his bachelors degree in information systems from Brigham Young University. Following graduation, he worked to reinvent the processes at Ameritech Library Services before joining REAL Automation Solutions, Inc. in 1994 as a partner and COO, helping it to become one of the leading HotDocs consulting firms in the country. Kim enjoys sharing his knowledge, personally and professionally, and has taught paralegal level courses in information technology at Salt Lake Community College before thousands of law firm personnel. Kim brings great insights to the back end processes which drive law firm profitability. His focus is on improving office processes within professional practices.
David Myers, President and CEO of DMedia Associates, Inc. – as an Information Industry expert, with over 28 years experience specializing in Strategy, Sales, Legal, Licensing and Business Development, David believes in the power of performance.
David has drafted, negotiated and closed over 500 domestic and international licensing agreements with publishing partners, customers and distributors. He has also negotiated and closed countless business alliances, strategic partnering, and revenue generation deals. Prior to starting his consulting practice, he was Executive Director, Global Licensing and Business Development with Wolters Kluwer Health for 7 years. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Business Development, WeFusion, Inc., Vice President of Business Development for Marco Polo Technologies, Senior Associate, Whitehall Montague & Cie. Investment Bankers and Strategic Planning Analyst, Texaco, Inc. In these roles, David led the development of strategic plans and developed and led the effort for new product licenses, new strategic partnering and acquisition targets.
Andy is a frequent thought leader and keynote speaker at conferences and events, traveling the globe to educate professionals about the importance of collaborative software, the cloud and the impact technology makes on the community it serves. At Higher Logic, his guidance helps clients experience these profound impacts.
Prior to co-founding Higher Logic, Andy owned and built a profitable software business whose primary focus was on member-to-member collaboration technologies. It was this software, when combined with complementary software which his business partner, Rob Wenger had built, became the heart of the Higher Logic platform.
Before starting his software company, Andy spent ten years serving as the Chief Information Officer at the Risk & Insurance Management Society, Inc. (RIMS) where he headed their technology and social strategy initiatives. From 1986–1996, Andy served in the Royal Navy, which allowed him to travel internationally around most of the world including the Arctic and Antarctic. He returned from a three-year tour in Hong Kong to study Computing in Business at Brunel University in London.
Andy Steggles is the author of Social Networking for Non-Profits, published by ASAE. The book focuses on how to increase member engagement in a mobile and web 2.0 world. He is also the President & Co-Founder of Higher Logic, an online community platform company serving associations, nonprofits, businesses and member-based organizations worldwide. Prior to joining Higher Logic, Andy spent ten years serving as the Chief Information Officer at the Risk & Insurance Management Society, Inc. (RIMS) where he headed among other things, their social strategy initiatives.
Thomas D. Begley, Jr. believes that knowledge is power.
Tom has been a lifelong resident of Southern New Jersey. He earned both his undergraduate and law degrees at Georgetown University. In a career that spans over 40 years he has extensive experience in Elder Law, Medicaid Planning, Special Needs Trusts, Disability Law and Personal Injury Consulting. In addition, Tom is an accredited attorney for the preparation, presentation, and prosecution of claims for veteran’s benefits before the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Tom is a member of the New Jersey Bar Association, all relevant state, local affiliates and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He is past Chair of the Elder and Disability Law Section and the Real Property Probate and Trust Law Sections of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
Tom is a Certified Elder Law Attorney, a Fellow of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and recipient of the NAELA President’s Award. He is past president and a founding member of the Special Needs Alliance, a national network of lawyers dedicated to serving families of persons with disabilities, recipient of the Alfred E. Clapp award, and the Marilyn Askin Lifetime Achievement Award.
Tom is the main author of Beyond Counsel’s estate planning documents.
Tom co-authored the Representing the Elderly Client, and of Representing the Elderly or Disabled Client; Forms and Checklists with Commentary. He also authored How to Develop and Manage a Successful Trust and Estate/Elder Law Practice and is a member of the editorial board of Estate Planning Magazine.
